Backstory

"We are the seekers and keepers of knowledge. The power of the world with the intent to do good. We aim to preserve all knowledge on this star, to protect and store it."These are the words of the average Sharlayan citizen. To seek and keep knowledge is one thing Tavaen always agreed with, however to not share it was its problem. The man who decided to leave the great city state of scholars found contradictions within its philosophy and conduct. The power of the world with the intent to do good, but withholds its hand from doing said good, always bothered the young Sharlayan.His parents, both academic professors with skills in Aetherology, Summoning and Medicus drilled this into his head, that he should strive to live up to what Sharlayan stood for. For twenty years they put him through school, studying all forms of medicine, magicks and sorcery. He loved that part, however when he had finally finished his schooling, his parents were intent on him joining them in their work. Intent might be too light. All but physically forcing him.When it came time to finally claim the seat next to his parents in their fields of study, he refused. He claimed that to have true knowledge, one must explore. One must adventure into the world they seek to understand. Disappointed in his obvious neglect of their attendance to his life and efforts, the parents decided to cast him out and disown their son. Little did they know, it made it easier for him leave by them doing so. Taking a boat back to Eorzea by a Gleaner's vessel, he made his way to the city that was always bustling. Ul'dah.In Ul'dah, he discovered many things. How to haggle, how to spot drifters and scammers. People who wanted to steal from him, or extort him. He learned all this by first hand experience and became invaluable for the future. However, through his first year of staying in Eorzea, he ran across a woman who told him of a ruin within the Sagoli that had yet to be discovered and searched. He questioned her, but all she could say was that she sensed he was the one that needed to search it. To find what laid within.His heart yearned for the unexplored, so he took this information and hired a couple of guides to lead him into the unforgiving desert. After two weeks of travel, he had found what the woman told him about. The ruin deep within the Sagoli. There, his life would change forever.After returning from the Sagoli, he managed to have the funds from the exploration of the ruin to afford payment on a small shop within the city walls. There, he set up his own place of healing and tonics, dubbing it "Blackblossom Drafts and Healing" to be of aid to those in need, and who can afford it. Of course,it being Ul'dah, he'll also offer his services to the darker underbelly for a fee as well. The world is a hard place, and everyone knows this. Why not take advantage of people who'll pay him more than the average patron to keep quiet about something they don't want others to know of.
